Nordic CityMaking Week is initiated and produced by Helsinki-based Urban Practice. Urban Practice advocates societal entrepreneurship and accompanies urban change by creating platforms for collaboration between cities, companies, academia and the civic society.
Urban Practice has since 2015 organised Lähiöfest (Finnish for ‘festival of neighbourhoods’) – an urban festival with a focus on the renewal of suburban neighbourhoods in Finland – in five different cities and together with hundreds of collaborators, and People-Driven City – an international conference examining the structures needed to connect the ‘top-down’ to the ‘bottom-up’ and a meeting place for sharing experiences from different cities. In 2019 Urban Practice started Kaupunkioppi – City Learning, an education program that helps schools learn about cities and cities learn from schools.
